At last we managed to fit Porteno into our diaries. We also made a big note to book 2 weeks in advance and to make sure our party has 5. Porteno only accepts bookings for 5+ people. Also there is two different seatings when you book 6pm and 8:30pm.
Porteno is known for their gorgeous suckling pig cooked for 8 hours on a spit. How can you say no to that?

House Baked Bread with Olive Oil with Pork Pate.

Shaved Fennel Salad with Apricot, Black Olives and Amontillado Dressing.

Chorizo – Love the chorizo. Lots of fatty yummy bits in the sausage. I did find the casing a bit thick to chew on.

The special of the day – the Barramundi. Didn’t find it anything special still not bad!

Beetroot Salad with feta. This is a must order side when you visit. The beetroot goes amazingly well with the feta.

Pickled Veal Tongue – best way to explain this was that it tasted heavily pickled! I do love heavily pickled food.

Kingfish Ceviche, Corn, Cucumber, Sweet Potato and Bottarga.

8 hour Woodfired Free Range Suckling Pig. We wanted to order the 2 plates suckling pig but was told it was best we order one plate to share for the five of us. Porteno delivers on the suckling pig, the skin was so crispy and the meat was so juicy. The only letdown was there was only 4 small pieces of the skin!

Now the best part of the night, desserts! I can’t remember what this was but I do remember that the early grey ice cream was delish, everyone was fighting for the last bits.

Burnt Milk Custard with Orange Jam and Chocolate Ice Cream. Did find this dessert a bit strange but it didn’t tasted too bad!

South American Style Pavlova, the pavlova was the one we debated not to order but I am so glad we did. A must order if you have to choose between the desserts
I did find the servings really small but it is recommended to share everything. I can’t wait to return and have the suckling pig again.
